According to the national standard GB/T5075-2001 "Terminology for Power Fittings," power fittings are metal accessories used to connect and assemble various devices in a power system, serving to transmit mechanical loads, electrical loads, and provide certain protective functions.

 

The iron or aluminum metal accessories widely used in power transmission lines are collectively referred to as fittings. Fittings are diverse in type and purpose. Examples include various clamps for installing conductors, various hanging rings for forming insulator strings, various crimping tubes and repair tubes for connecting conductors, various types of spacers on split conductors, and various guy wire fittings for poles and towers, as well as fittings used to protect conductors of varying sizes, all requiring coordination.

 

Most fittings need to withstand significant tensile forces during operation, and some must simultaneously ensure good electrical contact. They are crucial to the safety of conductors or poles; even the failure of one fitting can cause a line fault. Therefore, the quality, correct use, and installation of fittings have a significant impact on the safe power transmission of power lines.
